Vigorous, upright, evergreen shrub, valued for luxuriant rich green foliage and single/semi-double, cerise-pink, scented flowers with golden stamens. Prefers warm, sunny site and well drained neutral/acid soil. Sometimes wrongly called Hiryu.
Hardy in a sheltered site in most UK, Coastal France and northern Italy and Pacific Northwest gardens, but may be damaged in severest winters. Often early into flower and growth.
